We just put up the moonshade and love it. We are now discussing it would be nice to have a carrying case to organize and store the vacuum anchors, sand bags cases etc.
Light weight and easy set up. Advertised as 12x9. The one I received was 11'6"x 8'4".
Quality control, maybe? Still a nice product.
Very nice canopy. I've only put it up twice and there's a slight learning curve to doing it solo with the XL. But, I'm getting it. I'm using the vacuum suction cups to attach to a nuCamp T@b 360 and it's working well. Looking forward to all the good shade to come!
The versatility works for me. I looked at multiple 180 and 270 awnings, but once bolted in place there it is. Being able to move the shade around my rig based on location, direction of setup, and quality met my expectations.
I finally love putting up my awning, even by myself! It was always a struggle to set up and put away the awning that comes with a pop up. Now my favorite thing to do is put up my Moonshade XL!
I started with a MoonShade awning but knew quickly that a larger MoonFab awning would be a better fit. My 1975 Volvo TGB1314A ex-Swedish military 6x6 ambulance-turned-camper now sports the original MoonShade awning and three of the MoonShade Walls but also two of the MoonShade XL awnings and three of the MoonShadeXL Walls. These give me incredible flexibility in my set-up and the potential for MASSIVE amounts of shade depending on my needs. Fantastic well designed and well made products!
We bought this product to go on our truck camper and we love it! It worked wonderful on our cross country trip! The Lance truck camper on our Ford 550 with flatbed makes the awning way to high to be useful so we purchased the brackets and the moonshade XL. Couldn’t be happier with it! Easy setup and tear down and worked great even on a fairly windy day.
Great attention to details, with quality materials. Using the short side I can connect to the canopy anchors, unfortunately my Sprinter 144 roof rack is only 10.5ft. But, this creates a very nice extension of space that can also be dropped down creating a private space. Don't drop the short side if raining, the roof vents funnel and drop rain inside. We have enjoyed our XL, only wish we had long side wall!
I spent time at multiple van events talking to all kinds of van lifers and by far the MoonShade was the favorite. I was glad I waited and did the research that I did because I’m extremely happy with the product. After installing my sprinter rail clips I set up the MoonShade and was very happy. The pictures were taken at a friends house since I’m full-time van guy. I have since added some weight bags for the times I’m on pavement. The XL model provides me with lots of shade at the side door and I know I will get lots of use out of it. Thanks for a great product at a reasonable price.
Very happy with my Moon XL. Set up was quick. It held up to wind over 20mph. Highly recommend.
Just deployed it for the first time yesterday. Easy to set up, Nevada afternoon winds kicked up yesterday to gusts about 30-40 mph and the MoonShade held up great. quality materials and built to last a long time.

What's the difference between MoonShade and MoonShade XL?
MoonShade XL is 12ft × 9ft — 70% more coverage than the original 9ft × 7ft. XL, requires about 12 feet of mounting span, and is designed for full-size vans, motorhomes, and larger trucks. The original is sized for SUVs, crossovers, mid-size trucks, Jeeps, and smaller trailers.
What vehicles is MoonShade XL compatible with?
MoonShade XL is built for full-size vans, RVs, and motorhomes. Moon-confirmed vehicles include the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster, Chevy Express, Winnebago Solis and Ekko, and Scamp 16. Does MoonShade XL need a roof rack?
No. MoonShade XL uses MoonMounts or semi-permanent anchors — no roof rack, no drilling.
How much does MoonShade XL weigh?
12.6 lbs. Packs into a bag — designed to store inside the van when not in use.
Does MoonShade XL hold up in wind?
Yes. Customers have confirmed it at 30-40 mph. For exposed conditions, guy lines add meaningful stability.
Can MoonShade XL cover both the side door and rear door on a van?
Yes — depending on how you position it, XL can cover the side door, rear door, or both in a two-MoonShade setup.
Is MoonShade waterproof?
We don’t “waterproof” our fabric because it would degrade the integrity of its UV resistance over time. That said, it is seam-sealed and the fabric is a technical 420 ripstop that sheds water like an umbrella.
