After working for a van conversion company for a few years, Patrick decided to spin off and create Featherbuilt in 2019. Lindsey, originally from Rhode Island, discovered van life after living in Italy for several years. After building out a Sprinter with her father in 2019, she hit the road. It wasn't long after that she met Patrick at a van life meetup in Colorado, and the rest is history. Since 2019, Featherbuilt has converted 14 complete vans, undertaken dozens of partial builds, and assisted hundreds of people in navigating the installation of various van components. Additionally, Featherbuilt has developed a couple of dozen products aimed at individuals not in the market for a complete custom van conversion but who are taking a more DIY approach to their build. The transition from custom fabrication to mass production hasn't been without its challenges, but Featherbuilt is convinced that becoming a manufacturer of van products is the path forward for them. When not building vans, Patrick and Lindsey love to travel both domestically and internationally, taking their van, Venus, on camping trips. The Moonshade makes for an easy setup using the Sprinter rail anchors. Check out their beautiful vans at Featherbuilt.com

Our family have used our moon shades for years. We recently went out camping and the weather forecast said rain so we doubled up our moon shades and created a large space for the 6 of us to sit under, just in case. Instead of rain we had sun and the shade it provided our group was perfect!

We’ve had the moonshade for several years and I’m amazed at how durable it is. It recently held up to a week of southern Idaho wind without any damage. I wanted to take it down every day but my wife had faith in the moonshade, and she was right. It held up fine.
I mounted stainless eye bolts in the keder rail of our T@G 320 trailer and leave them in place. It is very quick and easy to clip the carabiners of the moonshade into the eye bolts, insert and clip in the cross poles, and mount the support poles. The shade is up in less than 5 minutes. It’s just as easy to take down and it packs wonderfully in the carrying bag.
I couldn’t be happier with the moonshade and it’s held up through some tough conditions over the years. Highly recommended.

I purchased the MoonShade for my little camper van because I needed something I could set up quickly and take down easily. After struggling with my attached awning and then trying a tent-style add on, I knew I needed something I could manage myself - particularly when the weather quickly changed.
The MoonShade is perfect. It's so simple and easy to attach and secure. It's been such a great addition to my camping experience.

Very well made product a little pricey but worth the money. Purchased because of it's weight, small size when stored and the excellent reviews. So far we have used it over the back of our 2020 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 off road. The topper we have is a mid rise ARE with tracks on top (we have bars but they are not installed). The Moon strut pole sits on top of the tracks so it doesn't scratch the topper and we used paracord to secure the strut pole to the large Moon suction cups. We have also used bungee cords to anchor the strut pole to the frame of the truck. We will be trying out the MoonShade over the back of our Ford F150 that has a mid rise topper but no tracks, so will need to put padding (maybe a pool noodle) around the strut pole. Also, want to add that customer support is good.
