The vacuum mount is very good but my van roof has a black liner coating to alleviate sun damage. The surface is not smooth enough for the mount to hold but I’m keeping them anyway for other uses.

This is the mount! We have both 4.5” round and this oval mount. Both have very powerful holds but this oval mount fits our van better and lets us mount it in more positions!

Easy & simple

We use these on the roof of our Ram ProMaster high roof van because we don't have an awning rail or roof rack. They are easy to use as long as you have a ladder to help you reach the roof. They have worked for us in light breeze with our shade.

The suction mounts seem to stick pretty good so far but they are a pain to get in place. I have to press down pretty hard to get them to grab and hold the suction. The oval shape is nice as anything else would not work on our van.

I bought these vacuum anchors to use with a lught weight tent-type awning that I purchased on Amazon. I was looking for a way to hang this awning from my horse trailer without having to drill holes into the trailer roof. None of the other suction cups i tried would hold.

Although they are a little pricey, these worked as described. I am thrilled with how easy they are to use and, when applied per the directions, have incredible suction and have stayed on for 24 hours so far. I’m very happy with my purchase.

PS - it is worth noting that a small amount of assembly is required. You do have to put in the screw and the actual anchor into the anchor. Be careful not to over tighten the screw down into the anchor or it will affect the vacuum ability.

What is the difference between the Oval and Round MoonMounts?
Some SUVs and trucks have roof features like rain gutters or ridges that make it difficult—or even impossible—to install the 4.5" round MoonMount, as it requires a wider flat area. In these cases, the Oval MoonMount is a better fit. If the available space on your roof is less than 4.75 inches wide, we recommend using the Oval MoonMount.

Vacuum Mount Instructions:

Clean both the mounting surface and the vacuum pads thoroughly.
Moisten the sealing surface of the MoonMount pad.
Position the MoonMount so the Indicator Line is visible on the plunger.
Pump each plunger until the mount is firmly attached and the Indicator Line is no longer visible.
Check regularly during use. If the indicator line becomes visible again:
- Pump the plunger until the indicator line disappears.
- If the indicator line keeps reappearing, clean the surface and vacuum pads again, then reinstall.

Leave MoonShade unattended while mounted to vehicle.
Use MoonMounts on vinyl wraps or over vinyl decals, as it may cause delamination.
Leave MoonMounts on painted surfaces for more then 48 hours.

Very good product

I had looked at several options for vacuum mounts on my 2022 Mercedes Sprinter. I currently have 2 MoonShades and use the smaller one on the drivers side. Because there are no windows on that side the vacuum mounts were a great option and the OvalMoonMount was a clear winner over the other well known brand. I went with the oval ones for additional holding power and I really like the multiple mounting options over some of the other brands.
